Abstract: | The lipids and fatty acids of the seeds ofOenothera biennis L, fam. Onagraceae, have been studied with the aid of chemical, chromatographic, and spectral analyses. In the lipids we identified the usual and oxygenated acylglycerides and five classes of lipophilic substances. The structures of four epxy acids and of 22 hydroxy acids have been determined. The physiologically active 18:3(6,9,12)- acid was found in all the acylcontaining classes.Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, fax (371) 1206475.
