Determination of oxygen in inorganic compounds using pyrolysis-gas chromatography

Summary Direct determination of oxygen in inorganic compounds using a Carlo Erba Elemental Analyzer may be carried out when such samples are pyrolytically decomposed with Porapak or sulphurbased additives. The selection and applicability of the method depend on the type of anions present in the inorganic test compounds. Quantitative recovery of oxygen is found from calcium and barium salts of organic acids, carbonates, most metallic sulphates, nitrates and some oxides.

Sauerstoffbestimmung in anorganischen Verbindungen mit Hilfe von Pyrolyse und Gaschromatographie

Zusammenfassung Die direkte Sauerstoffbestimmung in anorganischen Verbindungen mit Hilfe eines Carlo-Erba-Analysators läßt sich nach pyrolytischer Zersetzung solcher Verbindungen unter Zusatz von Poropak oder schwefelhaltiger Produkte durchführen. Die Selektivität und Anwendbarkeit des Verfahrens hängt von der Art der in der zu analysierenden anorganischen Probe anwesenden Anionen ab. Quantitative Ergebnisse wurden erhalten mit Calcium-und Bariumsalzen organischer Säuren, Carbonaten, vielen Metallsulfaten, Nitraten und einigen Oxiden.
