Influence of a small lattice deformation on the superconductive critical temperature of alloys with the Cu3Au-type structure

Abstract:Lattice dimensions and superconductive critical temperature, Tc, of Ca1?xSrxPb3 alloys have been measured. The Cu3Au-type cubic structure of CaPb3 becomes tetragonally distorted near x=0·50. At the same composition a marked increase in Tc is found, which is explained in terms of Brillouin zone effects.
