Abstract: | The giant magnetoresistance (MR) effect is theoretically studied in a magnetically modulated two-dimensional electron gas. We find that the significant transmission difference for electron tunneling through parallel and antiparallel magnetization configurations results in a considerable MR effect. We also find that the MR ratio strongly depends on the magnetic strength and the distance between the left edges of two ferromagnetic strips as well as the temperature. |
