Abstract:Besides addition product 2-halo-substiituted dichloromethylenecyclohexane by-produ- cts were produced from the reactions of the titled compound with chlorine and bromine. To prepare the compound 1-trichloromethylcyclohexene by a series of elimination reactions was unsuccessful. The axial conformer of 2-substituted dichloromethylenecyclohexane has been observed, which was interpreted in terms of anomeric effect.
