| Abstract: | Upon treatment with Fe(CO)5 in an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent aromatic acid chlorides gave an mixture of triarlmethane and tetraarylethane. The reaction may proceed via benzaldehyde and diarylmethanol intermediates. A free radical mechanism is proposed. |
