| Abstract: | Aza-ortho-xylylenes 4 generated via thermal extrusion of SO2 from 1,3-dihydro-2,1-benzisothiazolo-3-spiro-2′-indan 2,2-dioxides 3 undergo [1,5] hydrogen shift giving 2-phenylindene derivatives 5 in good yields. |
