| Abstract: | o-Bromobenzaldehyde reacts with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds under carbon monoxide in the presence of a catalytic amount of PdCl2(PPh3)2 to give the corresponding 3-alkylphthalides in moderate to good yields. |
