Abstract: | Pure 2-methyl-5-nitroimidazol-1-yl-acetaldehyde was synthesized by modified Swern oxidation. This compound can be utilized as reaction intermediate in the synthesis of bioreductive agents (e.g., hypoxic cell radiosensitizers, antibiotics against anaerobic organisms). |
