Abstract:L-Proline was utilized as an efficient organo-catalyst for the environmentally benign synthesis of 3-substituted coumarins by the Knoevenagel condensation of substituted 2-hydroxybenzaldehydes with reactive methylene compounds under solvent free conditions.
