Abstract: | Theoretical/experimental studies on design and development of FIR filters have been carried out. A simple design consisting of a staggered edge filter and a four cavity Fabry-Perot filter, has been developed, for the first time, which meets the required pass band characteristics anywhere in 2–20 μm and completely eliminates transmission in the rest of the infrared spectrum. A typical designed filter useful in 14–16 μm band has been realised experimentally. The resulting filters satisfy the stringent spectral and durability requirements laid down as per MIL-F-48616. |
