Shift of the rate-determining step in a consecutive chemical reaction with variation of the reaction affinity
Authors:M Enyo
Abstract:A consecutive single-route reaction is considered. When two (groups of) steps compete in controlling the overall reaction rate, there exists a general rule that the earlier step in the flow of the overall reaction tends to be rate-determining with the increase of the reaction affinity. The latter may, however, be distributed more or less evenly to both steps.
