| Abstract: | The reactivity of naphth1,2-d]indoles1a, 3a and6 towards sodium in ethanol was studied.1a yields2, 3a the nor-product3b and dihydrothebainone-dihydromethine (4). Bt reaction of6, octahydrophenanthrenes7a and7b are obtained, the structures of which were elucidated byHofmann degradation to8a and8b. |
