Abstract: | A new method is suggested for negative ion calculations, based on perturbation theory with a model zeroth approximation and a polarization potential formalism. The binding energy of an electron in an Na– ion is calculated as a test, and is found to agree with experiment.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 9, pp. 41–46, September, 1990.In conclusion, the author is grateful to E.
