Ion chromatography in the analysis of natural waters

Ion chromatography is a new method for the determination of cations and anions in solution, based on ion-exchange separation of the analysed ions on a separator column, suppression of the background eluent signal on a suppressor column and finally, conductometric detection. Ion chromatography is characterized by high sensitivity, selectivity and reproducibility. This method now is widely applied to the determination of inorganic and organic ions in natural waters.
