Pointwise Stabilization for a Chain of Coupled Vibrating Strings

For the system representing a chain of coupled vibrating strings,we show that the associated semigroup satisfies the assumptionof spectrum-determined growth, and hence obtain conditions forenergy to decay strongly or exponentially.
