Abstract: | Shikimic acid, the starting material in the commercial synthesis of oseltamivir phosphate (Tamiflu?), was efficiently extracted and isolated from Ginkgo biloba leaves utilizing the ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([bmim]Cl), which dissolves cellulose. |
