Abstract:Based on refined high-order theory, a finite element model of laminated plate was established, and the related program was developed with MATLAB. Analyses of a laminated plate with three layers under the mechanical loads were conducted with the developed model. The numerical results agree well with the analytical ones. Responses of a laminated plate under the simultaneous thermal and mechanical loadings were simulated using the proposed model and the results were compared with those from the fine finite element simulations based on ABAQUS to verify the efficiency of the proposed model. Effects of the cross-thickness ratio and the types of laying-ups of the laminated plates on the inter-laminar stresses were analyzed. The results show that the cross-thickness ratio of the laminates has an important influence on the inter-laminar stress, and their relationship satisfies an approximately inverse proportional function. The type of symmetrical laying-ups can significantly reduce the stress between layers of laminated plate.
