| Abstract: | By treating the static field of the atom exactly and using the eikonal wavefunction to bring in the couplings to all remaining atomic states, a simple formula for elastic scattering amplitude is derived. Its usefulness is demonstrated by applying it to electron—hydrogen scattering. |
