| Abstract: | Solvent-free ring opening of 1,2-epoxides with thiols using catalytic amounts of lithium perchlorate affords high yields of β-hydroxy sulfides. Nucleophilic attack of the thiols occurs regioselectively at the sterically less hindered side of the epoxides. |
