Abstract: | This note presents flow visualization results to show the response of wake flows behind a cylinder to the feedback suppression and excitation. The experiments were conducted in a water channel and the feedback perturbations were introduced into the wake by oscillating the cylinder transverse to the oncoming flow. The visualization photographs directly illustrated the wake flows under the feedback suppression and excitation at Reynolds numbers up to 25% above the natural onset Reynolds number for vortex shedding. |
