Abstract: | The shading effect due to rotation in a free-molecular stream of rarefied gas is considered. The particle fluxes and the pressure and shear stresses acting on the rotor are found for arbitrary angular velocities. Estimates are obtained for the relative contribution of the shading effect to the drag and the damping moment of the rotor over the entire range of rotation velocities.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 1, pp. 186–189, January–February, 1989. |
