| Abstract: | A new type of phase transition is discussed which corresponds to a pairing of phonons of different lattice modes due to their anharmonic attraction in a crystal. It is shown that the main features of the isostructural phase transition observed in SrTiO3 at T≃37 K can be explained qualitatively by the phonon pairing phenomenon. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor.
