Abstract: | A procedure is presented for the complete separation of magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole contributions to Raman optical activity using the Raman-induced Kerr effect. The method involves carrying out a series of co/counter-propagating and frequency interchange experiments. Feasibility is discussed as well as application to some recent experimental observations in α-quartz. |
