Abstract: | Summary In order to prevent the flood of the Venice lagoon, several works are planned that will strongly modify the dynamic response to wave motion of the three inlets. A numerical model based on the mild-slope equation is employed to investigate the modes of oscillation of the Lido channel and its response to the propagation of short waves. In the latter case the main difficulty of the problem stems from the extension of the channel, that makes the use of alternative models extremely hard. Several conclusions are drawn about the main features of the wave field when the movable barriers are open or closed, both in the channel and in the refuge harbour. |
