| Abstract: | Cyclohexanone semicarbazone and phenylsemicarbazone form 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro- and 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octahydrocarbazoles under the conditions of the Fischer reaction. The reaction proceeds through a cyclohexanone azine intermediate. The product of oxidation of the azine is oxidized by air oxygen to 1,2,3,4-tetrahydrocarbazole.
