Abstract: | In this paper the near-tip temperature distribution for Mode III stationary crack in power-hardening materials is studied within the framework of thermodynamics. The hardening of materials is characterized as internal state variables to investigate the plastic dissipation. Numerical results indicate that the local temperature rise near crack tip by taking account of hardening is appreciably lower than those in perfectly-plastic case, and thus, are in better accord with the experimental results.The project is supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China |
