Time-continuous modeling of microstructures in single-slip finite elasto-plasticity based on energy relaxation

Abstract:The non-(quasi)convexity of the free energy of single crystals in finite elasto-plasticity gives rise to the formation of fine-scale fluctuations of the displacement field, which can be interpreted as material microstructures. We outline a numerical procedure to model the origin and subsequent evolution of laminate microstructures.
