Abstract: | A number of models in chromatography have analytical solutions in the Laplace or Fourier domain. Often, the moments of the Laplace domain solutions are calculated to characterize the peak shape. Nonlinear fitting in the Fourier domain can be performed to exploit the entire peak shape rather than the moments only. Curve fitting in the Fourier domain offers an attractive alternative for parameter estimation. In this study we will show - with some simple applications - the possibilities of estimation of chromatographic peak shape parameters in Fourier domain. Various models are fitted to different transient signals. |
