Abstract: | The electric field gradients measured at the surface of Fe(110) using in situ monolayer probe conversion electron Mössbauer spectroscopy were interpreted using a simple model. The spatial oscillation of the electric field gradient near the surface, which is observed experimentally, is also predicted by the calculations. |
