| Abstract: | The complex relations between organisms and heavy metals are discussed. These metals are transported through the environment and accumulated in organisms primarily through the process of biomethylation. They have been responsible for such ecological disasters. The role that microorganisms play in transporting these metals in the environment is reviewed and the areas for further research are delineaed. |
