Etching behaviour of calcium fluoride crystals in hydrochloric acid vapour |

| Abstract: | Etching of octahedral cleavage faces of calcium fluoride crystals in hydrochloric acid vapour has been investigated. It is observed that dislocation etch pits and non-dislocation elevations are formed. The morphology of etch pits obtained by vapour etching is observed to be different from that obtained by weak acid solutions. The results are discussed in terms of the prevailing etching conditions. |
