Abstract: | Since 1970s, research works on the synthesis and studies of novel-type materials have demonstrated a dramatic interest. The physical and chemical characteristics of a new material has a fairly close relationship with the concentrations and distributions of its constitutions, especially the constitutions in the surface of material sample. In addition, the direct analysis of samples in the solid state is of particular importance for ultra-trace elemental methods, for which dissolution of the samples can usually introduce unacceptable impurities. Such an analytical requirement from material science has promoted the developments and applications of glow discharge (GD) atomic spectrometry. |
