Abstract: | The adsorption of beryllium on a W(211) surface was investigated by Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), low energy electron diffraction (LEED), work function change (Δφ) measurements and thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS). Measurements were made at room temperature before and after annealing of the adsorbed layer. The work function change depends on the thermal history of the sample and can be explained in terms of a temperature-dependent adsorption process involving double layer formation. |
