Abstract: | We have discovered a vapor phase doping process of polyacetylene by alkali metals. The existence of a threshold temperature and nucleation characterize the doping as an intercalation process. The transport and optical properties, as obtained by dc conductivity and photoabsorption studies, imply a high intrinsic conductivity. |
