| Abstract: | A new method for determining the cefixime in drugs was developed. The cefixime hydrolyte reacted with copper tartrate by heating in alkaline medium and formed precipitate. The amount of copper in the precipitate could be determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry （FAAS）, then the content of cefixime was obtained indirectly. Under the optimum conditions, the concentration of cefixime was linear with absorbance in the range of 39.7 - 226.7 μg/mL with correlation coefficient of r = 0.999 0. The standard deviation of detection results was 0.84% （ n = 8 ） and the recovery was 96.8% - 105.3%. The method was suitable for the determination of cefixime in capsule. |
