Some considerations on the defect chemistry of ionic solids

The defect chemistry of the solid state deals with the relative densities of different possible types of defects in a crystal as a function of the ambient atmosphere and temperature, and their distribution in the allowed energy levels, and this paper discusses these aspects in some length. Principles of calculating the actual energy levels are then considered in terms of the Born-Mayer theory.
