Abstract:The electrochemical behaviour of CoSaloph (Salopy  phenylbis(salicylidene-iminato) was investigated in solution in organic solvents.The polymer complexes Co(Saloph)n have been prepared and modified electrodes coated with a film of polymer or with a mixture of graphite and polymer have been prepared and their electrochemical properties compared to those of the monomer.Quantitative electro-assisted reduction of benzyl chloride at controlled potential was performed with both types of complexes. In spite of poor yields, this example demonstrates the possibility of the transposition of homogeneous catalysis with coordination compounds on modified electrodes in the field of organic electro-synthesis.
