Abstract:
The transition region of Z2 lattice gauge theory is investigated by inverting the strong coupling series of the average plaquette energy EP(J). We find a clear evidence for a first-order transition and the existence of a metastable phase. In the U(1) case we confirm a second-order phase transition even if there is a little discrepancy on the critical point position as indicated by Monte Carlo simulations.
