Abstract:A multilevel multigrid method, combined with the two-equation turbulence model and P-V algorithm, has been used in the numerical simulation of recirculating turbulent flow fields in combustors. The predictions using a double-level grid system have beed compared with that using a single-level grid system and that from experiments and a good agreement has been found. The saving in CPU time using the multilevel multigrid system is 35% over the single-level grid system with the same accuracy. In some cases, multilevel multigrid system can improve the iteration-convergence. The MULSTAR-2 Code developed in this work can be used in numerical modeling of any complex flow filed in combustors.
