| Abstract: | The first total synthesis of the proposed structure of phaeosphaeride A has been achieved via six-membered-ring formation by means of an intramolecular vinyl-anion aldol reaction as the key step. This synthesis suggests a revised configurational assignment for phaeosphaeride A. |
