| Abstract: | The use of donor-only silylmethylcyclopropanes in the Lewis acid promoted reaction with aldehydes to generate 2,5-disubstituted tetrahydrofurans is described. The diastereoselectivity obtained in the product is very much dependent upon the temperature of the reaction. |
