The16O(α, γ)20Ne direct capture reaction at low energies

The¹⁶O(α, γ)²⁰Ne direct capture cross section has been calculated in a microscopically founded cluster model which reproduces simultaneously both the correct binding energies and the deformations of the²⁰Ne bound states. Theα+¹⁶O scattering states are derived from a microscopically derived local potential. The astrophysicalS-factor is found to increase linearly with energy in the energy rangeE _cm≈0.4–2 MeV and might therefore be determinable experimentally.
