Abstract: | Using an implicit folding procedure, isoscalar monopole and dipole transition matrix elements are expressed in terms of deformation parameters and moments of the optical potential forα-scattering. Application to monopole states in light nuclei gives good agreement with data determined electromagnetically. For isoscalar dipole states, the method gives information on 〈r 3〉 matrix elements which cannot be obtained otherwise. |
