| Abstract: | In a new variation on the Fischer indole synthesis, readily available haloarenes are converted into a wide range of indoles in just two steps by halogen-magnesium exchange, quenching with di-tert-butyl azodicarboxylate, followed by reaction with ketones under acidic conditions. |
