Abstract:A HPEGAA type polycarboxylate superplasticizer was synthesized by copolymerization of methyl allyl polyoxyethylene ether(HPEG)and acrylic acid(AA).Hydrogen peroxide and ascorbic acid was used as redox initiator,andβ-mercaptopropionic acid was used as chain transfer agent.The influence of synthesis temperature,monomer molar ratio and initiator dosage on the dispersion performance of polycarboxylate superplasticizer was discussed.The results indicate that the optimum synthesis process for polycarboxylate superplasticizer is as follows:n(AA):n(HPEG)=3.5:1;the amount of H2O2 and MPA is 0.67%and 0.34%of the mass of HPEG,respectively;the synthesis temperature is 40℃.The synthesized HPEGAA type polycarboxylate superplasticizer has high efficiency dispersibility and dispersive retentivity.The initial fluidity of cement pastes with HPEGAA superplasticizer reached up to 320mm and this high fluidity still could be maintained at 304mm for 2h.When the content of superplasticizer is 0.2%,the water reduction rate of mortar reached up to 26%,and the flexural strength and compressive strength of mortar were increased by 12%and 20%,separately.
