| Abstract: | An enantiospecific synthesis of 3,4,5-tri-O-benzyl-6-O-triisopropylsilyl-D-myo-inositol from D-xylose is reported. The synthesis features a diastereofacially selective SmI2-promoted pinacol cyclization. |
