Abstract: | Kinetics of the arylation of the N,N-dimethylaminohydrazone of furfural with picryl chloride in acetonitrile at 298 K has been studied. The reaction is not catalyzed by nucleophiles. The mechanism includes the rapid equilibrium formation of σ-adduct with its slow unimolecular decomposition. Rate and equilibrium constants for the individual steps were calculated.
