Abstract: | Airborne lidar currently offers the best means of observing the synoptic scale variability in the distribution of aerosols within the lower stratosphere. In this paper, some basic considerations regarding the processing and interpretation of this type of data are discussed. Results from the April 1973 flight between Madrid and Washington, D.C. are presented. The National Centre for Atmospheric Research is sponsored by the National Science Foundation. |
