Abstract: | We report on the investigation of the photocarrier sign and the excitation dynamics in Yb:YAG at 940 nm excitation wavelength by non-steady-state photo-electromotive force technique. Annealed crystals with 25 and 50 % Yb-doping concentration demonstrate hole conductivity, while 80 % Yb:YAG displays electron conductivity. A characteristic relaxation time of approximately 1 ms is observed, which corresponds to the lifetime of the excited Yb3+-ion. |
